When you decide to step back from using our platform, you have two options: disabling your account or permanently deleting it. Each option has different implications for your data and account accessibility. Here’s what you need to know to make the best decision for your needs.
Disabling Your Account
Disabling your account is like putting it on pause. This option is ideal if you anticipate a return in the future and would like the convenience of picking up right where you left off. Here's what happens when you disable your account:
- Preservation of Data: All your account data, preferences, and history are saved.
- Invisibility: Your profile and activities will no longer be visible on the platform, but they're kept intact behind the scenes.
- Reactivation: You can reactivate your account at any time by logging back in with your existing credentials.
Choosing to disable your account is a temporary measure that maintains the integrity of your account without making any permanent changes.
Permanently Deleting Your Account
Permanently deleting your account, on the other hand, is a more definitive action. When you choose to permanently delete your account:
- Erase of Data: All your information, including account details, preferences, and history, is permanently erased from our platform.
- No Recovery: Once your account has been deleted, it cannot be recovered after the 30-day grace period. If you wish to use our services again, you will need to start from scratch with a new account.
- No Visibility: Your profile and associated data will no longer exist and cannot be searched for or accessed in any form.
Note: It’s important to highlight that the permanent deletion of your account doesn’t happen immediately. There is a 30-day grace period post deleting. During this period, your account is deactivated, and you can still cancel the deletion process. Once the 30 days have passed, your account and all associated data will be permanently removed.
Making the Right Choice for You
Before deciding whether to disable or delete your account, consider your future intentions and privacy preferences. Disabling your account offers a flexible option to step away without losing your data, while permanent deletion provides a clean slate.
