How do I narrow down the search results to my area?
Search results can be narrowed down by using the filters on the search page. Filters are located on the left-hand side of the page on a desktop, and from the “Show Filters” drop-down, on mobile.
If you know what you are looking for, scroll through the list of available options and check the box next to it. Remember that the more filters you select, the fewer results will be shown. For the best results, we recommend limiting your filter use to your top three requirements only.
You can also narrow search results based on location by choosing a country, state/province, town/city, and neighbourhood. You can also adjust the number of jobs you see by entering a zip/postal code and selecting the search radius.
How do I reset my filters?
To revert your search to the default view, click “Reset Filters” at the top of the filter section. This will automatically uncheck all filter options and remove any location information.
How are profiles sorted on the search page?
Profiles are sorted in two different ways:
- By featured accounts: Subscribed users will appear towards the top of the search results first, as this is a benefit of a paid account.
- By last login. Once there are no more featured listings in your area, profiles will be sorted based on the last time someone has logged in. Logging in more often ensures a better placement on site.
Note: Search directories (when unfiltered) will show results from Canada and the United States. To see the results in your area, you must utilize the filters.
What does "Online Now" mean?
When you see the phrase “Online Now” on someone’s profile, it means that they are currently logged in and using the site. When you message a user with this status, you are more likely to receive an immediate response back.
Communication works in a messaging format, similar to sending an email. Keep in mind that users will likely take their time browsing the site before responding.
What is a "Featured" profile?
A featured profile means that you have purchased either a monthly, quarterly, or yearly subscription.
It is represented on a profile by a coloured banner with the word Featured.
Featured profiles are displayed toward the top of the search results, increasing your visibility within your area— this is one of the benefits of a paid account.
