There are many ways to be paid for your services, including cash, cheque, Interac e-Transfer, and direct deposit - to name a few.
Our recommendation is that you discuss the options you are most comfortable using with your employer so that you have an understanding of how to proceed. On top of that we suggest having this information in writing so that you are both held accountable for either the services provided or the pay owed.
