What is Telesafe and how do I use it?

Telesafe* is a secure phone service that allows users to connect with each other without having to share their contact information, providing security and protection to users on both ends.

To ensure the privacy of our users, we use Telesafe to show a toll-free number in place of your own telephone number. When you call a user through Telesafe, your phone number will be masked so that the other user does not see it on their Caller ID or in their call history. The same process will occur when a user calls you via Telesafe as well.

NOTE: your phone number must be verified in order to user Telesafe. To ensure that the Telesafe process goes smoothly, please complete the steps outlined here first: How do I verify my phone number?

Please also be advised that the ability to place a call through Telesafe is a paid feature available only to those users who have purchased a subscription plan. Calling other users via Telesafe is not currently available for users registered under our Basic (free) plan.

However, keep in mind that a subscribed user can contact a non-subscribed user via Telesafe as only one user in the conversation is required to be a paying member.

You are able to place call using Telesafe when browsing from either your computer or your mobile device. To learn how to do this from each device, you can follow the instructions outlined below:

Computer:

To place a call to a user when browsing the site on your computer, you will first need to navigate to a user's profile. Once there you will see two options:

1) Send Message - this allows you to send a written message that will appear in the user's inbox.

2) Call with TELESAFE - this allows you to securely connect with a user over the phone.telesafe_profile.png

If you would like to talk to the person directly, click on the "Call with TELESAFE" button. From there you will be directed to a new screen with a toll-free number and a pin code specific to that user.

NOTE: all pin codes expire 4 hours after you visit this page. If you wish to call outside of that 4 hour window or want to call the user again, please return to this page to collect a new code.

On your computer you have two calling options:

1) Call Using Your Browser - you can connect with someone directly using your computer as a phone (please ensure you have a built-in microphone to utilize this option). Your call will then be forward to that user's registered phone and you will be able to speak with them in person or leave a voicemail if they're not available to chat at that moment.

2) TELESAFE Dial In - you will enter the toll-free number listed on the right-hand side of the page into your phone's keypad and start the call. When prompted, enter the 5-digit pin code. Your call will then be forward to that user's registered phone and you will be able to speak with them in person or leave a voicemail if they're not available to chat at that moment.

NOTE: If the user has not confirmed their number on their account or has made an error entering their number, the calls will not work properly. In that case, we recommend sending them a written message if you are unable to connect over the phone.

We record all calls made through Telesafe and make them available to you in your inbox in case you need to recall a conversation.

Mobile:

To place a call to a user when browsing the site on your mobile device, you will first need to navigate to a user's profile. Once there you will see two options:

1) Message - this allows you to send a written message that will appear in the user's inbox

2) Call - this allows you to securely connect with a user over the phone.Screen_Shot_2018-11-04_at_3.56.23_PM.png

If you would like to talk to the person directly, click on the "Call" button. Your will then be redirected to a new page where you can click the "Call Now" button. Your phone will then be automatically connected to a secure line.

Calling directly from your mobile device automatically enters in the user's unique pin code, so your call should be connected to the other user without the need to enter a 5-digit code.

That being said, if for some reason the pincode is not being automatically entered when you click on the "Call" button and you are having trouble connecting the call, you also have the option to and enter the phone number and pin code manually into your phone. This information is displayed on the same page for your convenience.

NOTE: all pin codes expire 4 hours after you visit this page. If you wish to call outside of that 4 hour window or want to call the user again, please return to this page to collect a new code.

Once connected you will be able to speak with them in person or leave a voicemail if they're not available to chat at that moment.

Although the above examples are from Housekeeper.com, you can follow the same steps on all our sites.
